Cleveland Cavaliers Annihilate Boston Celtics 114-91

The Cleveland Cavaliers on the road demolished the Boston Celtics 114-91. The Cavaliers improve to 51-27, and the Celtics fall to 50-28 on the season. LeBron James had a game-high 36 points on 14 of 22 from the field, grabbed 10 rebounds, and gave out six assists. LeBron showed up to play in this one, and the Celtics just could not stop him. Kyrie Irving put in 19 points on 7 of 18 from the floor, and dished out five assists.

Kevin Love recorded a double-double with 15 points on merely 5 of 15 from the field, and pulled down 16 rebounds. J.R. Smith accrued 12 points on 5 of 10 from the floor, and stripped away two steals. Channing Frye finished with 10 points on 3 of 7 from the field, including eight rebounds and two steals. Richard Jefferson added seven points on a perfect 3 of 3 from the field off the bench. Kyle Korver poured in six points on a perfect 2 of 2 from the floor off the pine.

The Cavaliers shot 46.7 percent from the field, and shot 30.6 percent on 11 of 36 from three-point range. Every Cavaliers starter scored in double figures. The Cavaliers shot a solid 94.4 percent on 17 of 18 from the free-throw line. The Cavaliers out-rebounded the Celtics 51 to 38. The Cavaliers out-scored the Celtics in the paint 58 to 48. The Cavaliers played very good defense and only gave up a total of 91 points. They just played more physical and were rebounding very well.

The Cavaliers played a good game from start to finish. This was a big win for the Cavaliers on the road, and they will have a much better chance to get the one seed in the East after winning this game. Meanwhile, Tristan Thompson did not play with a thumb injury. The Cavaliers have now won four games in a row. The Cavaliers will head back home and take on the Atlanta Hawks on Friday.

“Just trying to get our team right going down the stretch brings out the best in me,” James said. “We knew we were coming to a hostile building tonight and just wanted to try, and play our game … and we did that.”

For the Celtics, Isaiah Thomas led the way with 26 points on 9 of 19 from the field, plucked four rebounds, and handed out six assists. Jae Crowder managed 13 points on 5 of 11 from the floor, and gathered four rebounds. Al Horford pitched in 12 points on 4 of 6 from the field, to go along with seven rebounds and three assists. Amir Johnson put up eight points on a perfect 4 of 4 from the floor. Kelly Olynyk contributed 12 points on 5 of 8 from the field, and snatched four rebounds off the pine.

Terry Rozier compiled six points on 2 of 5 from the floor in nine minutes off the bench. The Celtics shot a poor 40.7 percent from the field, and shot 21.2 percent on 7 of 33 from beyond the arc. The Celtics got totally out-played, and nothing was going right for them in this game. This just does not look good for Boston heading into the playoffs.
