The Cleveland Cavaliers at home slip by the Indiana Pacers in game-five in the first round of the playoffs 98-95. The Cavaliers take a 3-2 lead in the series. LeBron James finished with 44 points on 14 of 24 from the field, plucked 10 rebounds, and dished out eight assists. The Cavaliers had the ball with three seconds left and the game was tied at 95-95. James made the game winning three-pointer at the buzzer to help lead the Cavs to victory.
Kyle Korver put in 19 points on 6 of 11 from the field, grabbed six rebounds, and sunk five three-pointers. Kevin Love posted a double-double with 11 points on merely 2 of 11 from the field, and picked up 10 rebounds. Larry Nance Jr. contributed five points on 2 of 3 from the floor in 19 minutes off the bench. The Cavaliers only shot 41.3 percent from the field, and shot 31.3 percent on 10 of 32 from three-point range. The Cavaliers did shoot a tremendous 96.3 percent on 26 of 27 from the foul line.
The Cavaliers win a big game at home, but they let the Pacers comeback in the fourth quarter. The Cavaliers struggled on offense, but they got enough stops on defense to win the game. Meanwhile, George Hill was out with a back injury. The Cavaliers will head to Indiana to play against the Indiana Pacers in game-six tomorrow night.
LeBron James said, “As a kid you always have those 3, 2, 1 moments and that’s what it kind of felt like, I felt like I was a kid all over again playing basketball at my house on makeshift hoops and my socks as a basketball.”
For the Pacers, Domantas Sabonis led the way with 22 points on 8 of 15 from the field, and gathered five rebounds off the bench. Thaddeus Young pitched in 16 points on 8 of 9 from the floor, and snatched six rebounds. Victor Oladipo logged 12 points on just 2 of 15 from the field, including 12 rebounds, and four assists. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 11 points on 4 of 9 from the floor, and drained three from downtown. Myles Turner generated eight points on 3 of 4 from the field, and blocked two shots in 21 minutes.
Lance Stephenson compiled 12 points on 4 of 8 from the floor, and gave out four assists off the pine. Cory Joseph racked up six points on merely 2 of 6 from the field, to go along with five rebounds, six assists, and two steals off the bench. The Pacers shot 47.9 percent from the field, and shot 30 percent on 6 of 20 behind the three-point line.
The Pacers out-scored the Cavaliers in the paint 42 to 32. The Pacers bench out-scored the Cavaliers bench 42 to 18. The Pacers did not give up, and they were in a good position to win. The Pacers just had no answer for LeBron James, and he made a big shot. The Pacers will have a chance at home to tie the series, and force a game seven tomorrow night.
