Cleveland Cavaliers Roll Past Detroit Pistons 102-94


The Cleveland Cavaliers on the road take down Detroit Pistons 102-94. The Cavaliers improve to 13-7, and the Pistons fall to 5-17 on the season. Donovan Mitchell led all scorers with 32 points on 9 of 23 from the field, and grabbed five rebounds. Evan Mobley posted a double-double with 20 points on 8 of 12 from the field, and pulled down 13 rebounds. Darius Garland finished with 19 points on just 4 of 19 from the floor, and dished out 10 assists.

Cedi Osman added 10 points on 4 of 8 from the field off the bench. The Cavaliers shot 43 percent from the field, and shot 28.6 percent on 8 of 28 behind the three-point line. The Cavaliers played well on defense and they have now won five of their last six games. Jarrett Allen, Kevin Love, and Caris LeVert did not play due to injuries.

“It wasn’t a terrible game, but we missed a lot of shots we usually make,” Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. “We did a good job of creating those shots, but they just didn’t go in. Credit the guys for finding a way to win us the win.”

For the Pistons, Marvin Bagley III recorded a double-double with 19 points on 6 of 12 from the field, including 10 rebounds, and three steals. Killian Hayes scored 16 points on 7 of 13 from the floor, to go along with eight assists, and two steals. Saddiq Bey tallied 15 points on 6 of 15 from the field, plucked five rebounds, and stripped away two steals. Alec Burks poured in 17 points on 7 of 13 from the field off the pine.

Cory Joseph logged 10 points on 5 of 8 from the floor off the bench. The Pistons shot 45.6 percent from the field, and shot 28.6 percent on 8 of 28 from beyond the arc. The Pistons fell apart in the fourth quarter. Cade Cunningham, and Isaiah Stewart were out with injuries.

Cleveland Cavaliers Crushed Portland Trail Blazers 114-96


The Cleveland Cavaliers at home blow out Portland Trail Blazers 114-96. The Cavaliers improve to 12-6, and the Trail Blazers fall to 10-8 on the season. Donovan Mitchell had a game high 34 points on 11 of 18 from the field, including two steals, and drained six three-pointers. Darius Garland scored 24 points on 9 of 19 from the floor, dished out 12 assists, and made four three-pointers. Jarrett Allen posted a double-double with 24 points on 10 of 12 from the field, and grabbed 13 rebounds.

Lamar Stevens notched 12 points on 3 of 5 from the field. Evan Mobley recorded a double-double with 10 points on 4 of 10 from the floor, pulled down 12 rebounds, and blocked three shots. The Cavaliers shot a solid 55.4 percent from the field, and shot 44.4 percent on 12 of 27 from three-point range. All of the Cavaliers starters scored in double-figures. The Cavaliers played well at both ends of the floor. Caris LeVert did not play with an ankle injury, and Kevin Love was out with a thumb injury.

“Defenses have a tough decision to make on how they’ll guard us,” Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. “A lot of times, they’ll err on the side of defending Donovan, but he’s a willing passer. And that’s where Jarrett does a great job of finding those gaps.”

For the Blazers, Jusuf Nurkic finished with 22 points on 9 of 14 from the field, to go along with six rebounds, and three steals. Jerami Grant totaled 21 points on 6 of 12 from the floor, stripped away three steals, and hit three triples. Anfernee Simmons dumped in 20 points on 6 of 18 from the field, gave out six assists, and nailed four three-pointers. Drew Eubanks supplied 10 points on 5 of 5 from the field, picked up six rebounds, and blocked three shots. The Blazers shot 45 percent from the field, and shot 42 percent on 13 of 31 from three-point territory. The Blazers did not get enough stops on defense. Damian Lillard missed the game with a calf injury.

Cleveland Cavaliers Thump Atlanta Hawks 114-102


The Cleveland Cavaliers at home throttle Atlanta Hawks 114-102. The Cavaliers improve to 11-6, and the Hawks fall to 10-7 on the season. Donovan Mitchell led all scorers with 29 points on 11 of 22 from the field, including four rebounds, nine assists, three steals, and drained four three-pointers. Darius Garland dropped in 26 points on 9 of 14 from the field, and dished out nine assists. Evan Mobley put up 10 points on 4 of 6 from the floor, and grabbed 9 rebounds.

Cedi Osman added 23 points 8 of 10 from the field, and hit three triples off the pine. The Cavaliers shot an outstanding 60 percent from the field, and shot 52.6 percent on 10 of 19 from three-point distance. The Cavaliers out-scored the Hawks in the paint 62 to 52. The Cavaliers played well at both ends of the floor. Meanwhile, Caris LeVert missed the game with an ankle injury.

“This game had some more meaning to it because everyone knows what they did to us last year,” Garland said. “We made up for it on defense and we got some easy buckets in transition. Everyone sees it, our team is just unselfish.”

For the Hawks, Trae Young recorded a double-double with 25 points on 10 of 22 from the field, and gave out 10 assists. John Collins tallied 16 points on 5 of 9 from the floor, stripped away two steals, and buried three from downtown. Dejounte Murray racked up 11 points on 4 of 17 from the field, pulled down four rebounds, and handed out six assists. AJ Griffin amassed 17 points on 7 of 11 from the field, to go along with three steals, and knocked down three triples. Onyeka Okongwu tossed in 18 points on 6 of 9 from the floor, and picked up 10 rebounds off the bench. The Hawks shot 43.7 percent from the field, and shot 32.4 percent on 11 of 34 behind the three-point line. The Hawks did not get enough stops on defense to win.

Cleveland Cavaliers Manhandled Miami Heat 113-87


The Cleveland Cavaliers at home blow out Miami Heat 113-87. The Cavaliers improve to 10-6, and the Heat fall to 7-10 on the season. Darius Garland had a game-high 25 points on 7 of 12 from the field, dished out seven assists, and made four three-pointers. Evan Mobley posted a double-double with 15 points on 7 of 12 from the field, grabbed 10 rebounds, and gave out five assists. Lamar Stevens put in 11 points on 5 of 6 from the field, and gathered four rebounds.

Donovan Mitchell concluded with 13 points on 5 of 12 from the floor, including five assists, and two steals. Cedi Osman added 20 points on 8 of 17 from the field, pulled down 12 rebounds, and hit four three-pointers off the bench. Issac Okoro poured in 13 points on 4 of 8 from the floor, and plucked four rebounds off the pine. The Cavaliers shot a solid 53 percent from the field, and shot 35 percent on 13 of 37 from three-point range. The Cavaliers out-scored the Heat in the paint 50 to 40.

The Cavaliers out-rebounded the Heat 49 to 30. The Cavaliers bench out-scored the Heats bench 41 to 25. The Cavaliers played sloppy with 19 turnovers, but they shot the ball well. The Cavaliers played well at both ends of the floor.

“You do have to credit Cleveland. They played well,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.

For the Heat, Bam Adebayo had a team-high 21 points on 7 of 14 from the field, and collected six rebounds. Caleb Martin scored 17 points on 7 of 12 from the floor. Dewayne Dedmon generated 10 points on 3 of 8 from the field, and caught five rebounds off the bench. The Heat shot a poor 38.8 percent from the field, and shot 19.4 percent on 6 of 31 from beyond the arc. The Heat did not execute well enough on offense to win. Meanwhile, Jimmy Butler did not play with a knee injury.

Garlands 41 points Lead Cavs Past Hornets 132-122 In Two Overtimes


The Cleveland Cavaliers at home rout the Charlotte Hornets 132-122 in two overtimes. The Cavaliers improve to 9-6 and the Hornets fall to 4-13 on the season. Darius Garland led all scorers with 41 points on 16 of 26 from the field, including six assists, five assists, and buried three triples. Donovan Mitchell put in 34 points on 11 of 22 from the floor, grabbed four rebounds, and dished out six assists. Jarrett Allen posted a double-double with 20 points on 8 of 11 from the field, pulled down 12 rebounds, and blocked four shots.

Evan Mobley totaled 21 points on 9 of 14 from the field, collected 18 rebounds, gave out five assists, and blocked two shots. The Cavaliers shot a tremendous 53.3 percent from the field, and shot 28.6 percent on 8 of 28 from three-point range. The Cavaliers out-scored the Hornets in paint 64 to 54. The Cavaliers played sloppy with 19 turnovers but they still found a way to win. The Cavaliers snap their five game losing streak.

“It’s never going to be perfect,” said Mitchell, “It’s going to feel bad and look ugly, but that’s where growth comes from. We have to learn from this.”

For the Hornets, Kelly Oubre Jr. had a team-high 34 points on 12 of 21 from the field, stripped away three steals, and made five three-pointers. P.J. Washington pitched in 28 points on 10 of 20 from the floor, to go along with 10 rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Terry Rozier dropped in 28 points on 11 of 32 from the field, gathered five assists, and handed out five assists. Gordon Hayward accrued 13 points on 5 of 14 from the floor, caught six rebounds, and dished out seven assists.

Nick Richards recorded a double-double with 13 points on 5 of 10 from the field, snagged 14 rebounds, and blocked three shots. The Hornets shot 40 percent from the field, and shot 31.8 percent on 14 of 44 from beyond the arc. Hornets did compete well on the road and they did not give up even though they lost. Hornets have now lost 10 of their last 11 games.

Cleveland Cavaliers Dominate Los Angeles Lakers 114-100


The Cleveland Cavaliers on the road blow out Los Angeles Lakers 114-100. The Cavaliers improve to 8-1, and the Lakers fall to 2-7 on the season. Donovan Mitchell had a game-high 33 points on 10 of 17 from the field, and grabbed five rebounds. Jarrett Allen posted a double-double with 16 points on 5 of 13 from the field, including 11 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. Darius Garland put in 24 points on 7 of 18 from the field, plucked four rebounds, and dished out seven assists.

Caris LeVert finished with 12 points on 5 of 10 from the floor, and picked up four rebounds. Kevin Love chipped in a double-double with 10 points on 4 of 10 from the field, and gathered 10 rebounds. The Cavaliers shot 44 percent from the field, and shot 25 percent on 8 of 32 behind the three-point line. The Cavaliers are off to a great start to the season. They came out and took care of business against the Lakers.

“LeBron does a lot for the city, did a lot for the city,” Garland said. “So just having a whole different generation of guys with a whole bunch of talent, and just a great team overall that everybody loves, it would mean a lot for us and the city of Cleveland (to make the playoffs again). That’s what we’re pushing for.”

For the Lakers, LeBron James had a team-high 27 points on 13 of 23 from the field, snagged seven rebounds, and gave out four assists. Anthony Davis recorded a double-double with 19 points on 7 of 12 from the floor, pulled down 12 rebounds, and handed out four assists. Troy Brown Jr. amassed 12 points on 5 of 12 from the field, and collected six rebounds. Russell Westbrook contributed 19 points on 6 of 13 from the floor, to go along with 10 assists, and two steals. The Lakers shot 46 percent from the field, and shot 29.6 percent on 8 of 27 from three-point range. The Lakers played sloppy with 16 turnovers and they also did not shoot well from the free-throw line. The Lakers are off to a disappointing start to the season.

Caris LeVert scored 15 points on 6 of 10 from the field, plucked six rebounds, and dished out six assists. Evan Mobley racked up 11 points on 5 of 14 from the floor, grabbed eight rebounds, and blocked eight shots.

Kevin Love posted a double-double with 21 points on 7 of 10 from the field, pulled down eight rebounds, gave out 10 assists, and hit four three-pointers off the bench. Cedi Osman added 15 points on 5 of 9 from the floor, caught four rebounds, handed out six assists, and sunk four three-pointers off the pine. Raul Neto managed 10 points on 3 of 7 from the field, including five rebounds, five assists, and two steals off the bench. The Cavaliers shot an outstanding 54.3 percent from the field, and shot 42.3 percent on 11 of 26 from three-point range. The Cavaliers moved the ball well and executed well offensively.

The Cavaliers out-scored the Pistons in the paint 58 to 24. The Cavaliers out-rebounded the Pistons 47 to 34. The Cavaliers bench out-scored the Pistons bench 54 to 21. Meanwhile, Darius Garland did not play with a knee injury, and Donovan Mitchell did not play with an ankle injury. The Cavaliers have now won six of their last seven games.

“We obviously have a ton of respect and appreciation for Darius and Donovan, but we’ve got some really good basketball players that are with them,” Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. “Tonight showed we’ve got a really good, deep basketball team.”

For the Pistons, Cade Cunningham finished with 19 points on 7 of 18 from the field, gathered five rebounds, handed out five assists, and knocked down three from downtown. Saddiq Bey registered 18 points on 6 of 13 from the floor, to go along with four rebounds, three steals, and drained three triples. Jaden Ivey logged 18 points on 6 of 13 from the field, and snagged six rebounds. Isaiah Livers notched 11 points on 3 of 7 from the floor, and made three from deep. The Pistons shot merely 37.3 percent from the field, and shot 35.1 percent on 13 of 37 beyond the arc. The Pistons did not play well at both end of the floor.

Cleveland Cavaliers Hang On In Overtime Against Boston Celtics 114-113


The Cleveland Cavaliers at home win a close game in overtime 114-113 against Boston Celtics. The Cavaliers improve to 6-1, and the Celtics fall to 4-3 on the season. Darius Garland had a team-high 29 points on 9 of 20 from the field, including five rebounds, 12 assists, three steals, and hit five three-pointers. Evan Mobley put up 15 points on 7 of 8 from the field, and grabbed seven rebounds. Jarrett Allen posted a double-double with 14 points on 6 of 11 from the field, pulled down 14 rebounds, and blocked two shots.

Caris LeVert supplied 15 points on just 4 of 12 from the field, snagged eight rebounds, dished out four assists, and buried three from outside. Donovan Mitchell logged 25 points on 11 of 27 from the floor, gave out six assists, collected four rebounds, blocked two shots, and three triples. The Cavaliers shot 42 percent from the field, and shot 28.2 percent on 11 of 39 from three-point range. All of the Cavaliers starters scored in double-figures. The Cavaliers
out-scored the Celtics in the paint 56 to 42. The Cavaliers get a big win against the former Eastern Conference champions in Celtics and Cavaliers have now won six of their last seven games.

“Any open shots that teams are willing to give us,” Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. “We’ll take ’em.”

For the Celtics, Jaylen Brown led all scorers with 30 points on 10 of 26 from the field, picked up eight rebounds, and handed out four assists. Al Horford recorded a double-double with 12 points on 5 of 11 from the field, and caught 11 rebounds. Jayson Tatum totaled 26 points on 8 of 21 from the floor, gathered 12 rebounds, dished out six assists, and blocked four shots. Marcus Smart tossed in 16 points on 5 of 12 from the field, accumulated six rebounds, and gave out five assists. Malcolm Brogdon accrued 15 points on 6 of 11 from the field, and snatched four rebounds off the bench.

Grant Williams added 11 points on 3 of 7 from the floor, to go along with seven rebounds, and two steals. The Celtics shot 41 percent from the field, and shot 26.8 percent on 11 of 41 from three-point distance. The Celtics did not give up and competed well on the road, but they have now lost to the Cavaliers twice in overtime this season. Celtics did not shoot well from the field, but they shot well from the free-throw line.

Cleveland Cavaliers Smashed New York Knicks 121-108


The Cleveland Cavaliers blow out New York Knicks 121-108. The Cavaliers improve to 5-1, and the Knicks fall to 3-3 on the season. Donovan Mitchell had a game-high 38 points on 12 of 20 from the field, including 12 assists, two blocks, and sunk eight three-pointers. Dean Wade scored 22 points on 8 of 11 from the field, grabbed four rebounds, and nailed six three-pointers. Evan Mobley finished with 16 points on 6 of 13 from the field, and pulled down six rebounds.

Kevin Love added 29 points on 9 of 14 from the field, picked up eight rebounds, and drained eight three-pointers off the bench. The Cavaliers shot 46 percent from the field, and shot 46 percent on 23 of 50 from three-point territory. The Cavaliers played exceptionally well on offense. Meanwhile, Darius Garland is still out for the Cavaliers with an eye injury.

“This team never loses its fight,” Love said. “Sometimes, you have to win ugly and we did that tonight. Donovan was finding guys out there, I was finding guys out there, Dean made big shots, and we just got rolling. It’s amazing playing with these guys.”

For the Knicks, Jalen Brunson dropped in 16 points on 8 of 19 from the floor, to go along with four rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Evan Fournier poured in 16 points on 6 of 9 from the field, and made three from downtown. RJ Barrett compiled 15 points on 6 of 10 from the floor, caught five rebounds, and knocked down three triples. Julius Randle registered 15 points on 5 of 13 from the field, snatched nine rebounds, handed out seven assists, and stripped away two steals.

Isaiah Hartenstein managed 12 points on 6 of 10 from the field, and gathered nine rebounds. The Knicks shot 49 percent from the field, and shot 37 percent on 10 of 27 behind the three-point line. The Knicks out-scored the Cavaliers in the paint 64 to 32. The Knicks did not get enough stops on defense to win.
